Penang Famous Air Itam Laksa

After staying at Ipoh for one night, we then went up to Penang to visit my Kuku ( my dad's sister ) . We wanted to try their famous Laksa at Air Itam, knowing that there will be traffic jam all the way as it was one day after Labour Day ( which is a replacement for Labour Day as it falls on a Sunday ) , we still went and got what we wanted. With a bit of happenings going on. Will elaborate more later.

Thankfully, I have waze to bring me through some roads that are not congested. We went and turn around housing area to avoid the traffic jam.

So the place was actually along some shoplots, and man the road was congested ( no thanks to tourist and cars parked illegally on both sides of the road , haha including the car in was in :) ). The tables were fully occupied, with some empty tables that are yet to be cleaned but already booked by those coming for the Laksa.

Banyaknya orang !

I went there with both my parents, my uncle and aunt and one of their children. While all of us except my dad went down to eat , my dad did not as he had to wait inside the car incase something happens, and guess what something really happened. But my aunt did bought a tin carrier to take away for one person.

Some pictures of the stall.

There is the sugarcane drink seller over here that is enjoying breeze business because its the only available drink over there. Every table seems to be having a few glasses of it.

Ok, we waited only a while and dish was served.

All I can say that the Laksa tasted so good. I really really like them. Sometimes when I wanted to have Laksa, I will try to get them around Kajang , or even going to OldTown White Coffee to have their laksa eventhough I know it tasted below average. So this bowl of warm, hearthy Laksa served its purpose well!

The markerel that was used in the broth was flaked and in large amount. The use of lemongrass, mint, pineapple  , ginger, onions , prawn paste and others make this dish a great one to have. The mee and everything really blends well together, the broth is really declicious, its one of the few times I actually drink up almost all of the broth. It's like super healthy and tasty.  I literally would love to have another bowl, thats because I always get disappointed when I order Laksa at Kajang. Anyone can intro some great Laksa I can try out in Kajang ? Do comment below. It comes in a generous amount and it cost RM3.50 if I am not mistaken, or RM4 . I know its cheap for a bowl like this. I think its because this is located at a morning market area. ( If I am not mistaken ) .

LAKSA!!!!!
We ordered two Sugarcane drinks and it tasted so nice as the weather was freaking hot that day.

So here the SOMETHING really happen, my uncle finished his bowl of Laksa so he wanted to go to the car so that my dad can come over to have his turn ( Already taopao in the tin can ) , but my dad also came in time. He said the car was parked at a better place, should be no problem if just leave for a while. Then, suddently there were people shouting "Polis, Saman , Polis Saman '' . It was literally like 5 seconds when my dad came over. So my uncle hurriedly went over to the car and thankfully it did not get saman yet ! . Hahaha   . Some other cars was not that fortunate as I saw the Saman Ticket on their windscreen . Those that are eating the Laksa also quickly went to their car and drive off . So yeah, we got lucky that day.

So to those coming to have their meal here, I know its hard to find parking at the place, so if you want to park illegally, please be more alert. That 15 minutes can cost you RM150 and a sad day to top it up.

Anyone that visits this place, if you need to go to the washroom, there is actually one quite near to this stall, and its free ! Or maybe there was not one collecting entry fee on that day. The toilet was voted best toilet or something, with certificates and design hanging on the wall. quite fancy actually cause its a market area!!!

To those coming to try out this place, please be careful.  I read  online that the Sugarcane drink seller will insists on you ordering a few drinks if you are having a bowl of Laksa over there. Not sure weather its true but hey just ordered one if you are there. The same person also stated that he was cheated because he paid RM50 for his Laksa Meal but did not get the correct amount of change , and was later told he only paid RM10. So, keep some small change in your wallet/purse to avoid things like this happen. Expect other customer to stare at you because they want to have your table after you leave :)

Tandoor Grill in Greentown, Ipoh

After Sekinchan trip, we continue our journey to Ipoh to my relative's house . My cousin, who is is Doctor (rich ,  rich !! ) bring us for dinner at Tandoor Grill. This place offers Indian cuisine specifically , where there is also ballroom located above it, so many wedding dinners can be held at the ballroom.

First walk into the place already feeling amuse. Definately love the cold and cozy atmosphere. Its fine dining over here . Not noisy at all as there was not much customer at the time.

We started our nom-nom with  papadom ( its like a soft keropok ) , along with a mint greenish bowl of liquid. Tasted super good. First time trying them and already liking them. The mint greenish thing is a bit acidic but a great combo with the Papadom. Its called mint chutney.

We got Mango Lassi for drinks, its some  of healthy yogurt drink that is very popular in this place . It is more to a dense drink but you can definately feel the freshness and its healthy !

Below are the dishes that my cousin ordered that day. I don't really know or remember much. So it's a bit sketchy.

We had Tandoori Chicken. Yum yum. It tasted really delicious. From what I observed and tasted , it was marinated well and spices were there. I like it. Some of the dishes over here can be quite spicy so do ask the waiter before ordering.

We also had Briyani. One of them had mutton chunks in it, another two with chicken chunks. The rice is a longer type of rice or they call it Basmati rice. I really love it, it is aromatic with great spices.

Then there are also Vindaloo, I can't remember properly.

The top one for this dinner will definately be the cheese naan. You eat them along with any available item. Just mix this and that, a bit of this and that, and just one mouthful, really delicious. That's my way of eating it, a bit clumsy but yummy. I like it. It is something like roti naan. But the thickness of the dough is just right to accompany with whatever vindaloo , the mint chutney or anything actually :)

This place is cozy and quite, and there are actually private rooms available. The toilets are very clean . There was about 5-6 tables that was accupied by other families, mostly Chinese. My cousin told me that this place offer one of the best Indian aunthentic cuisine . The price will be slightly higher as it offers top service and great atmosphere. There was a wedding going on as there were people walking from the small room located just beside the dining call towards the entrance, they were carrying gold, tons of gold jewellery and are all dress decently in the indian traditional wear.

There is also a bar over here. It looks legit but I did not ask more about that. Love their design though.

I am really full after having this dinner. Satisfy to the max. Will definately come back for second round ( that's if I have a lot of $$$ ) , but overall very satisfy with place, would suggest anyone that is visiting Ipoh to give a try. If you are planning to have a small closed dinner with your friends or colleague , there are rooms that you can rent .

Makan at Sekinchan - Restaurant Township

We decided to visit this Restoran Township because my mum had gotten some great reviews about this place. We decided to try this place as it was less crowded ( actually its no crowd at all ), compare to other restaurant  around that area. I actually got some pretty great suggestions from my friend ruoling , asking her places to get but at last didnt even get to visit one of them. Next time for sure. So, here are the pics.

So , here are the dishes that we ordered.

The first dish was Fish. It tasted so-so only. Nothing to remember of it really.
Fish
The next one is the chopped small shrimps. It actually tasted nice. It's the first time I am trying this sort of chopped small prawns. The dish was season nicely, with the right amount of heat. Recommended.

The soup with thick Lala clams tasted so fresh. I think its one of the freshes Lala you can get, well Sekinchan is of course famous for its seafood. So , no suprise over there. The portion was big and appetite satisfy thats for sure. The broth is simple , tasted  nice and healthy.
soup with thick Lala clams
Well, this picture of the rice portion below looks decent but actually its in a small portion. I can just said that they are a bit stingy with the amount of rice. So, we had to called an additional bowl of rice.

The bill for that day.

The one thing that I like around this restaurant is the trees located opposite of their restaurant ( front and left ) , there were so many nest on the tress. For those who know me, I am an avid animal lover, I can stare and be amazed at little things like this. So pretty!

It was a Labour Day, but there was not even one customer in the restaurant. There were many buses stop in front and along the road , with their passenger ( mainly tourist ) , going to have the lunch at another restaurant ( with air -condition ) near there , I assume. The whole time we were there, there was not even one customer coming in , not until we leave our table that another family walk in. Not sure why the business over here is slow.

However, for my next  visit to Sekinchan, I would definately visit other restaurants like the one call something  Loong , and the one located beside a kindergarden.

We didn't order crabs due to personal reasons. So if you guys are visiting this place, go ahead and try their crab.

Life Update

Updating my life profile to those who know me but dont really know what I am up too.

Currently waiting for my UPU result ( It's a goverment placement Local University list ) that will be out in Mid August. Applied Manufacturing Engineering at Utem, Melaka. Yes yes, I am a bio student in form 6 yet taking this course for my pre U ? I 'm shock at myself for even dare taking this step. Well, let's see where God's leads me then.

Recently keep listening to Faded by Alan Walker 24/7 . Love the tempo and lyrics.

Started work at Coach , Alamanda Putrajaya last Tuesday. It's a 3 month bond till 14th August. Just in time for my Upu results, and hopefully and I am praying everyday that I will get a placement cause I only scored CGPA 2.67 in my STPM , which is quite low (yeah, I know, so many scored 3.5 above and 4 flats ).   Ok, back here.  I was given the title Sales Assistance, but the truth I'm like the office boy and janitor over there. My job consists mainly of making sure the handbags and all the items and places in a orderly manner. Repackaging the stocks that just arrived. Wipe the shelves. Making sure there are no fingerprints on the mirror. So yeah, thats my job. My pay per hour is RM10 , its actually a lot. Thankfully the people over here are super friendly and fun. Kalene, Abang Faizal, Suria , Syira , Dayang Ku, Kimi and Ixora , hopefully I will have a fruitful 3 months with you guys.

Skip church a few times already :(
Its great that I am able to attend church this week as I am off  this Sunday.

Sister coming back from Singapore in two weeks times, so I am searching and planning places and cafes or eateries to visit for indulgement. Gonna spend some SING money holla!

Thats all for now.

Nite.

Sekinchan Trip

Alright, so first things first. My parents and me decided to visit Sekinchan, and then to Ipoh. It is actually suppose to be a Cell thingii with my mum's cellgroup, but at the end of the day, we went travelling by ourselves.

Bye jane. Please take good care of the house

Then, we went for a quick breakfast at Pasar Kajang. This is actually my first time coming here in years! I do pass by this place once a while, but I did not venture into Pasar Kajang.

We had roti canai and teh tarik, this stall is located one floor above, you have to use the stairs to excess to it. The roti is crispy and there are actually fresh coconut santan for you to mix in your kari or dal, according to your liking. This shop apparently is one of my Dad's regular place for his brekkie.

Then off we go to sekinchan.

Pics taken at our destination. Paddy Paddy everywhere!

Then we headed for Redang Island. Its around sekinchan, just put it in your Waze, it'll bring you there. Sun Sand Sea ! Its been sometime smelling the sea and see the blues.

So many shells, I even found some really long and weird ones

Dead catfish :(

Bang, jangan accidentally press minyak tau!

There are stalls over there selling kites too. I read from other blogs that its quite fun to let your kites over there, but sadly that day it was not that windy, no kites soaring that day .

There are many small tree house located along the beach, go up and snap some pics, but careful case some of the woods are not in a stable mode anymore.

Two most important person in my life
This is one of the must place to take pic when you visit Sekinchan too. Its a Wishing tree if I am not mistaken, I think you can get the red piece of cloth from the Temple located beside it, people write down their messages of hope or maybe dreams on the cloth and then flung them onto the tree, it will get tangle among the branches.

There are small business near the sea, selling Keropok , biscuit flakes and others. There are also stalls selling souvenirs like illuminated keychains. Did not get any as I don't think its necessary and I have tons of key chains, besides I dont think my close friends would love another ,I am sure most of their keychains berlambak dah!

Sekinchan, great place, fresh air, nice scenery. I'm content!

Next blog. Lunch .

Ps. Am currently stalking ruoling's and rebeccasaw's blog since its taking so long to load these pics. Wish I was at Starbucks now.
