Rakan Muda Jelajah Kampus at UTeM (Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka)

Today is a Monday and there is this Jelajah Kampus event thing that was held at my University. For starters, the date seems to be so wrong. Today is Monday, but the time for the activity is from 10am-7pm which means it will definately clash with our lecture time. But oh well, after I finish my Math and Material lecture, my friends and I went over to out Stadium Sukan which is where the whole event was held.

Crowd was there. There were too many cars and buses. I heard that some UPSI student also came into our Uni for this event.

There were actually many  workshops happening throughout the day. I manage to go for 2 of them. So yeah.

The first workshop that I went for is the cup design workshop. I was actually very excited with this one but it was kinda a let down for me. The pen that we were suppose to use to draw on the cup was not really good, the ink comes and goes, and we have to keep shaking it , and even causing the ink to splatter everywhere. I end up just quickly wrote a few words then decided to bail on it.

Set Your Dreams and Targets as high as the SKY
After that, I walked around while my classmates took their turn to design their mug. I wanted to go for the small bench making workshop but apparently there were no one around. So yeah. Then I joined the Soap Workshop.

Ignore the girlish looking pink gloves, they are there to protect our hands in case something goes wrongs. This workshop is actually quite fun and the amount of ingredients used is so generous. I enjoy a good 2 hours over here. The lady is super friendly and I think if you guys reading this, if you guys need a small workshop like this for your own personal event , I would highly recomment you guys to call up and give it a try.Its quite easy, fun and interesting!

Here is their facebook : LOO LOO SOAP

I am suppose to let it chill for one day then cut it. After that, I will need to let it be for 1 month .
Black Charcoal (regretting not putting more, its so greyish! ) -Lavender soap
She even gave every one of us a free customized soap.

And certificate. HAHAHA

There are tote bag design workshop and also book hardcover design workshop (RM5 ) as well.

And here are my classmates. Some of my guy friends are pretty envy of me because they said that the three girls in my class are so pretty. Well, what can I say, I am blessed.

The other 4 people in the picture will be part of my story for the coming four years, and hopefully when the times comes, 5 of us will be in the same hall, wearing the graduation robe and cap , and finishing out degree together.

I just came back from the first Spring Festival Meeting, gonna study my material and sleep.

Till then,
Cheers.

Bojio ?

Been going out of UTeM for the past two days with my senior Steven and some of my classmates. It was definately fun !

On Wednesday, We went and had our dinner at Windmill cafe, its just at Bukit Beruang and nearby MMU corner. Initially we wanted to go for a buffet at SUYA but it was closed ( no thanks for going at 3pm ), then we wanted to go and eat pork but it was closed too so we end up going Windmill. Much fun for me but not my wallet.

Yesterday we went to Aeon, the one beside Melaka Sentral, we went and eat the Sifu Wok if not mistaken. Their speciality is their cheese on rice with one type of meat. I ordered the one with Beef. It tasted great actually, but the longer you eat, you will get bosan quickly because the cheese is too overwhelming.  My wallet bleed again :(

We went for dinner and Big Bowl Ice. I got Matcha with fruits that cost RM9.10 . I considered it not bad as my ice shave was matcha green and not just the dripping that is green in colour. I did not take any pics but here is their famous big bowl.

And I have been going to my UTeM library even more frequently, mostly to read the free newspaper and also watch movies from my laptop. Now that I know I can rent the Audio Room or the Carrell rooms , I have been doing it on every trip . One person is only allow in each room , its your personal room, where you can hear music or watch movie or sleep without the need to distract others. Its free to rent and you can extend for every 2 hours.

Now for some Uni life, my koko that I choose is some Kesihatan thing. I didnt know what I was suppose to choose and I randomly just pick this. 1 credit hour. So far so good, its only sitting and hearing and knowing more about health stuff , its on wednesday night from 8-10pm. Luckily I wasn't alone, my classmates Christine also got into this koko. So, we can chit chat if it gets boring, but usually she will be doing exercises and me feeling guilty for not been as hardworking as her.

Picture of Lestari's cafetaria

Been reading a lot of articles on Facebook on how Uni student struggle in their academics and just words of encouragement to ask us to stand on and continue because where is success if there is no hard work. i particularly liked this simile , it states the same fire can melt a butter but hardens an egg.

Today (14/10/2016 ) is a public holiday in Malacca , I got no class yesterday too but I decided not to go back this week as I will be having a one week break starting next week.

Till then, Cheers.

Mountain Where I Run

Its been 1 month. 1 FREAKING month since I stepped into UTeM. I did not get homesick as I think I would, thanks to the holidays and breaks ( Hari Raya Haji, Malaysia Day, Awal Muharam) , I went back home once a fortnight.

Just completed my first Japanese Test and Maths Engineering test, I think I did quite well, haha thanks to some leak question and so on. Getting suited over here really fine so thats great.

I got into Sales and Marketing for the upcoming Spring Festival. That's a suprise! I just knew I suck at the interview and was already dejected, and just comforting myself that its ok. If you know me, I do  not really do ''charity'' works, mainly involving myself just to get the merits and benefits. But somehow, during the first week of orientation, I changed this mindset. I just did not want my Uni life to be black and white, I want to get involve into something, maybe something small, something manageable , something that I think I can do well. I think this is actually the first time I involve myself in, knowing that I will need to put effort and time , and there will no be a guarantee reward, instead I might just find myself facing troubles and stress all the way. But hey, YOLO , I just wanted to try, just wanted to experience something new.

I remember going to the interview with a thumping heart, not because I was scared or nervous or any sort, I was rushing from place to place and I did not want to wait for the interviewer (senior ) in case  they decide to take a break. I heard from my friends , some of them waited like super long about 1 hour plus , or maybe the senior in charge of a certain bureau is not around, so the interview will be on standstill until they are back.

Normal procedure, that is introducing myself, speak of my strength and weakness ( I suck in Chinese, so I did it in English ) . Then the senior asked me if unfortunately this year sales was too bad that they require me to go door by door , just to push the sales , will I be willing to do it? I actually hesitated for a while but finally I said ''NO'' . I remember he asked me another time for reassurance , I did not change my answer. I really cannot imagine myself going door to door and knock and asked them to buy the tickers, if they open a booth (which is a normal thing) , I will most certainly do it. But no, not door to door sales. That was my first flaw. Then he asked me if I did not get into the Bureau of Sales and Marketing , will I be willing to enter other Bureau. Again, I said ''No'' . Not that I did not want to join others, its just that I know my strengths and I do not want to force myself into doing something that I did not want when I have a choice. That was my second flaw. I think the interview lasted only 2 minutes. That's all.

Exiting the room, I knew my chances were slim. But I just smile when my friends asked me and said that if its God's will, then I will get it, if not, so be it. I actually got it!!! I think they recruited me because I am  the only one from my faculty that interviewed for that bureau . So yeah, lucky me!

Just went for the first meeting on the Monday that just passed, it was okay. Everyone is super friendly so yeah, I think its a good start maybe?

Anyway, been hearing to  Sarah McMillan -King of My Heart .
Non Stop.

Tomorrow I have Statics quiz and here I am wasting my time away.

Till then.

MHS and Life in Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka ,UTeM begins

Hi , everyone. I am so so excited to be able to get this place . Been waiting like forever for the announcement from the goverment for our upu results. Finally, it is here.

Got my result on the 8th of october !!! Damn happy. Its like a dream come true.

To be able to see the word TAHNIAH ! I imagine that every single night and pray almost everyday for this. Thank you Lord for answering my prayers.

I am just a below average student, did not do really well in my STPM and only got a CGPA of 2.67. From what I have heard from my seniors and teachers, you do not expect to get a place into local uni if your CGPA is around 2.5 , or if you get one it might be at Sabah and Sarawak which is not one of my options.

The minimum requirement for applying UPU is CGPA of 2.00 .  I actually get so so much help from one of my senior named Steven. Eventually ,he is the one that convince me and strengthen my decision to apply UTeM. As you can see my course is Manufacturing Engineering.

After I got the confirmation online, immediately went  ahead  to prepare my stuff. Went to Gov hospital to do a medical checkup as required. X-ray , Urine and blood test. I paid RM30 . From what I know, if your know your blood group ( including weather its positive or negative ) , you can request not to do the test and save RM10.

There is actually so much to prepare. I have to go and open a sspn-i account and also bank islam because I wanted to apply PTPTN . Please do it early and settle it quickly so you will have a peace of mind afterwards.

Registered on the 29th of august. Location is the main hall. From what I experience, their system and organisation of the registration date can be given a 9/10 . From the first counter to the welcome gift counter. So efficient. I think I finish giving all the details and got my hostel key in like 10 mins.

The welcome gift this year very nice. We got a 10000mah Powerbank  , Pineng and also a collar T.

My hostel for this year is at Al-Jazari. Its for guys only. There are few  hostels which are Lestari, Makmur, Sri Utama, Bunga Raya and Emerald Park. Here are some pictures of my room. Taken after I finish my orientation week.

Living room

My room

This room is actually so much better that I can imagine. FYI , the table , wardrobe are new if not mistaken. No any dirt or stain on them at all. Those staying here must be damn lucky. The wardrobe and table are both attached to the hall, so no shifting here and there. My room wall are actually more cleaner that other rooms. Thank God!

Below are some views from my room. My roomate and me did our own laundry during orientation week ourself as the washing machine room is not open yet. We hand out cloths at the window.

2 bathroom, 2 toilet , 3 sinks , 3 mirror

After my parents and bro sent me, we went for our lunch . After that, they sent me back.  At 5pm, all the newbies gather downstairs for dinner. First dinner, beside the drain cause too many people and man the sambal was HOT!

After that, lined up and UTeM provides buses that will take us from out apartment till the Main Hall. About 5 min drive. And week of suffering begins!

I could  not remember much. But I know we did a lot of shouting, clapping, body movement , hear some ceramah. Reached home about 12 in the morning. Bath and then sleep at about 1am. So tired.

Next day, BANG BANG BANG ! The facilitator for this Minggu Haluan Siswa (MHS ) will go house by house, door by door, at 5am with the loud speaker making the loud freaking annoying noise to wake us up.

So, to those that coming into Uni. Be prepare. You will definately dozed off during the talks in the hall. But be alert also lah, there will be a few Faci that will be holding their camera and taking pictures of you sleeping. Those will be uploaded almost every night in a short clip and will be up on the screen before leaving the hall each night. Expect laughter and hahahahahhaha from 2500++ student in the hall.

I think this year MHS is a bit more grand. The Menteri of Malacca also came and give a short talk. As a chinese that grow up in a primary and secondary Chinese school. It is definately different here. You will hear the melay recite verses everytime before they give a speech. Eye-opener.

Even when we break up in groups , before the discussion starts, they will like have a short prayer or something.

This year, I also celebrated Merdeka Day in UTeM . We had events and waited until the clock strikes 12 at night. We sang the Merdeka songs and also swing our small flags.

We had five days of orientation. The fourth day we went to out own faculty. Did register our koko and foreign language online. Went to Manufacturing faculty to listen to talks from lecturer who will be teaching us. Was also intro to our PA ( the professor who will be taking care of us until we graduate )

For the last day, there were performance from all the 4 kolej kediaman. Lestari, Al-Jazari, Sri Utama and Emerald Park. Al- Jazari got first. We also celebrated one of the Hal Ehwal Pelajar professor that is retiring on that day, as well as singing birthday song. We spontaneously did a Flashlight edition when they dim the lights .

Spend my orientation week mostly with them. From left, Ming yao (my roomate ) , me , Jia Huei and Jin Yao (both from Yu Hua ). So much fun!

Ended the orientation day yesterday (friday ) , had mixed emotions . Finally, its done. They even posted a few pictures and video of some parents who cried when they sent their kids over to UTeM during registration day.  Asking us to look at them, and to know that we carry that responsibility and to never disappoint them . As I am typing and thinking of that moment, I still have goosebumps , its so real and I never want to disappoint both my parents and people around me.

During one of the talk or Moral sessions, when the Melay student went for their prayer, a Chinese Lacturer with the name of Cheong , she asked us to write something that will motivate ourself on a piece of paper , keep that paper and make sure to do it. She shared about  her life, and how she struggle before she manage to publish her Chinese-melay book, which also got a reward. She said no matter what religion you are, if you do your best, you play your role, the God will bless and reward you.

Another guy also said something so true , it goes something like this.

''Set your dreams and targets above the sky, so that even when it falls, it falls among the stars''

The race composition for this Intake from what I heard was 7:3 ( Melay : Other race )
Quite a lot of Chinese actually.

So, to a new semester and also hopefully get a CGPA and GPA of 3.75 every sem. I will do my best!!!

Phillipians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me.

They provided our breakfast, tea break, lunch, dinner during the whole week. No worry at all. If I can make a change or two, i would like to have toilet breaks in between sessions. There were several times we were not allowed to go to the washroom, they wanted us to sit down and said later later. Even after the 3rd time, still did not allow us to go. I am not really sure why but I know they have their reasons.

Finally, I would like to thank all the Facilitator and Seniors for all their hard work to help us. They are indeed the best and forever UTeM-PADU !

oh, and I just ate my lunch.
RM3.50
Will be blogging about this place more often in the future. Can't wait for what is waiting for me over here.

Till then,
Cheers.

UTeM here I come !

I got it. First choice. My choice. God's choice.

The dreaded UPU result finally is out! And i got my first choice that is Manufacturing Engineering at UTeM ( University Teknikal Malaysia Melaka ) .

I have been waiting for this day for like forever. And I got it. I am so grateful and blessed. I am one of those who does not like to entrust and put something so important in the hands of our goverment, for them to decide and give me a course that will determine my future but I have to do it for this because it can save so much for my family. And i am willing to take that gamble, and thankfully I won this time.

If you are a STPM student, you will most probably aiming to enter Local Universities.
Same goes to me, the moment in step into lower 6 , thats my target all along. Sadly, I did not do too well, merely getting a CGPA of 2.67.

From past experience and stories from seniors, you know your chances of getting into local uni decreases if you are below 2.5 , although the minimum requirement for applying UPU is 2. So to get my first choice with a CGPA of 2.67, I am really thankful.

Just so you know, many of my friends that got a lesser CGPA still got a place in local uni , just not their first choice, and getting places like Sabah, Sarawak .some of them even got Pahang and Perlis, and decided to give up due to own personal reasons.

So to those who are planning to apply UPU , please do read up, do some survey ,read previous blogs , get more info from the net  ( Quan Sheng ) . Try to put your choices and uni choices that is in parallel with your result to give you the highest chance to enter into local uni. Do not expect to enter pretigious Universities like UKM USM UM if your CGPA is not up to their standard. Read their qualification, the minimum CGPA needed for each subject. Spend more time on that to finalize your decision.

So , I will be spending the next 4 years in Melaka. I cannot wait for what is instore for me over there.

My Squad at Coach

Blessed. One word to describe it. Thankful. Thanking God for letting me experince this.

So thats it. I completed my 3 month working at Coach Alamanda, Putrajaya as a part timer a.k.a retail assistant . I was actually searching for a part time job with a longer duration as I was waiting for my UPU announcement ( enter public university ) ,enquire about it, went for an interview , and thats it.

Started my first day on 10th May 2016 , was blur the first day of work , but till today still blur case. So yeah....

To be able to work at somewhere cozy, not much hard work needed, I am thankful for getting this job. Before this, I did work for some part time jobs too but usually I am just dragging myself to work. Hoping and wishing that the last day of work to arrive , but no I did not feel the same way working here.

So basically my job is to ensure the place is clean and tidy. The bags in the right posture, no fingerprints on the mirror and glass table. Do some simple repackaging. Serving customer when there is a crowd. Basically, thats all I do.

I never knew before that some customer can be so irritating, so fussy and I learnt that now.

I never knew before  that everytime I try a bag or flip some clothes during my visit to other stores, there will always be someone tidying up the things, placing and arranging them back .

Going with them for movies will definately be one of the highlights.  Haha free tickets , popcorn and bun sausage. The best part is enjoying that moment with them. We watched GhostBusters that night.

I am gonna cherish this and stamped this 3 months experience into my memory. Thank you Coach.

品轩冷气海鲜饭店 Pin Suan Restaurant

So , we decided to visit this restaurant at Semenyih. It was quite easy to find using Waze .

Reaching there with full crowd and almost all table was taken. Luckily I did booking one day earlier. There was even a notice at their door with the message :  " Fully Booked. Sorry for Inconvenience "

As the crowd was too much, their orders mess up pretty bad. The waiters and waitress had a hard time, sending orders to the wrong table, going in to check and still got them wrong. It was a sunday and there were too many diners .

The table that they had given to my family was the one located outside of the restaurant, so NO aircond. But thank God it was windy and cozy that night, so I am fine with it.
We waited for about 45 minutes before our orders arrived. Not bad given the number of accupied tables that came before us.

Food came.

Whole Chicken ( RM 40)
The Chicken is seriously delicious. The colour and the crispiness of the skin is too die for. The way that they present this dish is actually very unique. They also provided us with plastic gloves and scissors and we can cut then ourselves. While normally we got our chicken that are already cut and placed on the plate, this is a nice change.

Flavour is there, the meat is definately juicy and tender. Not hard at all. The chicken also comes with 2 types of dipping sauce and sugar.

One of the dipping sauce is really tasty so we end up asking them to bring another 3 more.

Look at the shiny, crispy drumstick. I can definately have them everyday!

The one of the left is seriously delicious
Water Spinach , Kang Kung (  RM 8.00)
Their Kang Kung is equally delicious. Tasted like any other Kang Kung that you can get at most chinese restaurant.
But it was quite oily so it would be best if you could just position the plate maybe 15° from the table so that all the oil will be able to accumulate at one side.

Squid ( RM 16.00 )
The squid and the chillies paste tasted great. I really enjoy this dish so much. Just the right heat , comfort food.

Rice ( RM1.50)

Some picture of their menu.

I will surely come back for more . I' m not sure about the crowd during weekdays , but if you are going on a weekends, pls make your booking one day earlier, or better even list down the dish you want so that they can get yr orders ready .

The owner Wendy actually asked me weather I want to place my order but I said no. So yeah, I paid the price by waiting for about 45mins.
